Rhinoplasty to Improve Front View of Nose?
I like my nose overall, but I'm not happy with the front view. I think it's too wide from base to nostril. Also it spreads and droops when I smile. I would like a narrower nose, a pointier tip and smaller nostrils, more like Monica Bellucci's nose. Is it possible, or do I run a high risk of it looking too fake?

You may benefit from a Rhinoplasty Consultation.
Dear Mischa, I read your question, and reviewed the photos you posted. You seem to have a wide nose that is slightly crooked (convex to your left), along with a wide tip on the front view. Your skin seems to be of good quality, and I see a bit of droopiness of the tip on the 3/4 view. Narrowing and straightening of the whole nose, along with tip refinement, and profile refinement are all obtainable goals with surgery. Please let me know if I could be of further assistance to you. Best regards. more

Narrowing the nose through rhinoplasty
Thanks for the question and photos, Mischa. Based on what I can see of your nose, it does appear that you would be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. There are three primary issues that seem to bother you: 1) bulbous tip, 2) c-shaped nose (deviated middle third) and 3) drooping/width of the nose with smiling. I would address the bulbous tip by reshaping your tip cartilages with the use of sutures and perhaps cartilage grafts. The idea is to build a narrower and more refined... more

Rhinoplasty can improve the front view of your nose
Hi Mischa, After studying your photographs, I believe your nose may be narrowed and refined naturally while strengthening tip support for a life-long improvement. I will describe these changes below: 1) The lower nose (tip and nostrils) Permanent sutures may shape and refine the cartilages that define the tip of the nose. There are limitations, however, to how much narrowing one can get because of thickness of the overlying skin. The nostrils can be narrowed with incisions that... more

Tip Definition in an otherwise nice nose
Tip definition should be easily accomplished in your case with some onlay tip grafting. Using cartilage from your septum (or your ear if you have had previous surgery), your tip cartilages can be strengthened and projected so you get a narrower, prettier tip that looks less wide when you smile and doesn't plunge. Of course there is no such thing as a simple rhinoplasty, but a skilled surgeon should be able to give you a result that is prettier and natural looking. ... more

Your Goals Sound Reasonable
The specific changes you are considering seem achievable and realistic. Find a well reputed and experienced Rhinoplasty surgeon. Get consultations with two or three different surgeons to find the right one for you.
Nasal reshaping can result is a more pleasing frontal profile
Surgery can narrow the nasal base and reshape the tip to a more favorable position. The most important aspect of the procedure is to make sure the surgeon has a good sense of the balance and proportions in order to change the nose to most effectively improve your front view.
Rhinoplasty aesthetics
Improving the appearance of the nose is variable from patient to patient. Ideals seen in some individuals may not be possible in others. A thorough exam is critical.

Options for improving appearance of your nose.
Your nose also has a slight septal deviation with mild indentation on the right. Acheiving the nose you desire should be a somewhat reasonable goal. It likely will require a graft to the tip as well as alar base reductions and a cinching suture to minimize lateral displacement with smiling and animation. see video

Achieving Your Goals with Rhinoplasty
A “done” look is not necessary, even when rather extensive work is done on the nose, when performed by a skilled and aesthetic-eyed surgeon. So many maneuvers in rhinoplasty are connected: strengthening of the columella (that midline portion on the bottom of the nose that divides the 2 nostrils) complements the refining of the tip, which also prevents dropping of the tip on smiling. This dropping can be further reduced by cutting what is called the “depressor... more
Tip and base of the nose can be narrowed with surgery.
The flaring of your nostrils with facial expression will not be altered by a rhinoplasty. The base can be narrowed but it is done at the expense of an external incision. If this is overdone, it can flatten the curve in the nostril and make it look artificial.
Rhinoplasty to fix a wide and drooping nose
Rhinoplasty can achieve very natural results by narrowing a wide nasal tip as well as supporting your nasal tip to achieve natural aesthetic changes. First of all, when the tip of the nose appears to be too wide, it can be narrowed to provide a natural appearance by performing a variety of maneuvers on the nasal tip such as a cephalic trim, or lateral crural flap. These are procedures that help to narrow the tip while also rotating your nose upward so that it doesnt droop... more
Narrowing your nose is possible
Rhinoplasty or "nose job" is an operation to improve what ever aspect of your nose you do not like, when possible. In patients who have a wide tip an "open" approach may be necessary to narrow the nasal tip and better define the nose. The differences between the open approach and the closed approach can be found all over the Internet. You can also narrow the bones by doing an osteotomy( breaking the nasal bones). You should... more

Narrowing your nose is very possible.
A rhinoplasty can definitely narrow your nose without making it artificial. For starters, you have quite a nice nose to start with. This is akin to starting with a nice canvas when painting a picture. Small refinements will drastically refine your nose, and can be made very naturally. The thing to do is definitely see a surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty. Number two, the reason that your nose spreads and droops when you smile is because of the septal... more
Rhinoplasty Can Narrow Noses Naturally
Narrowing the tip and base of the nose are common requests and frequently can be achieved. You will need to have your nose examined to determine what the surgeon believes is possible. There are many ways to make the nose narrower depending on the situation. Preventing the nose from widening with smiling is not likely to be met with great success. Sometimes Botox can help but this very much needs to be determined on an individual basis.
Rhinoplasty can improve the frontal view of your nose
Rhinoplasty (nasal surgery) can decrease the width of your nasal bones and nasal tip to give a more refined appearance in the frontal view. These changes will also be somewhat noticeable in the lateral or profile view as well. I find the best and most accurate way of showing these changes to a patient pre-surgery is to perform computerized 3D imaging. This method will show the patient what they may look like before the surgery to ensure that both surgeon and patient have... more
Front view rhinoplasty
The changes you describe are possible through rhinoplasty. While most patients ask for changes in the profile, there those that have problems with their front view. This can be accomplished through the use of rhinoplasty techniques to change the shape of the nasal tip acrtilages.
Rhinoplasty Can Produce a Natural, Attractive Tip
When performed correctly, rhinoplasty can reshape the tip to produce a natural, attactive nose -- from any angle. The best rhinoplasty is one which produces a nose that both looks good (and functions well) regardless from where it is viewed. The best way for patient to gain a better understanding of how their nose might look after rhinoplasty surgery is to visit with a surgeon who uses computer imaging to set the goals for surgery. Recently, 3D rhinoplasty imaging has become... more

Rhinoplasty strategy
From what I can see in your pictures I think you have an excellent opportunity to make some changes in your nose which will lead to a balanced and attractive look without looking fake. It would involve refining the tip and narrowing the bridge and some other minor changes. It would take about an hour and a half and your recovery would be about seven to ten days before you would be socially acceptable. Best, Tal Raine MD
Many techniques are available to improve the frontal appearance of one's nose. Some of these maneuvers include narrowing the bones, the midvault and tip. It is important to create a balanced flow of the nose from the top to the tip. Tip reduction techniques can be performed either with a closed or open technique. I prefer an open technique for many of my rhinoplasty procedures where much tip work is required.

Aesthetic results on front view after nose surgery
Ideally the results after Rhinoplasty will change the appearance of your nose appropriately not only on profile , but also on front view. Rhinoplasty is one of the more difficult procedure to perform, make sure you choose a surgeon that is experienced and talented in this field. On a more technical level, the front view of the nose can be altered by a number of technical maneuvers, based on individual nasal anatomy. In addition to narrowing the nasal bones and tip cartilages... more

The tip is delicate
Tip reshaping is an important element of rhinoplasty bit it is also one of the more complex components One thing that you should make sure of is that your surgeon will use as many non-destructive techniques as possible to reduce the shape of your nasal tip. Non-destructive techniques include: tip sutures, tip repositioning and grafting. Removal of excess cartilage can lead to problems with tip stability in the long run. So ask your surgeon "How" they would plan to... more
Rhinoplasty can improve the frontal view of your nose
Rhinoplasty is a popular and effective surgery to recontour the shape of your nose. Through different techniques, it is possible to alter the appearance and contour of your nose from the side view and from the frontal view. Keep in mind that even small changes to your nose can create a dramatic change in your overall appearance. For this reason, it is essential that you work with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has a great deal of experience in rhinoplasty. In our practice, we... more
Rhinoplasty To Alter Your Frontal Appearance
In my opinion, I think you are a good candidate to undergo rhinoplasty to make the nose appear more narrow and refined on frontal view. I happen to think your profile view is fairly acceptable. On the resting frontal view, your tip and bridge do appear slightly wide. These are both exaggerated when smiling due to widening of the base of the nose. These issues can be likely addressed by narrowing the tip and base, although I would not narrow the base as much as the tip itself. If you stop... more

Rhinoplasty to change the frontal appearance
I think you have made an excellent evaluation of your nose. From the photos, you may benefit from reducing the width, refining the tip, reducing the nostrils, and supporting the tip so it does not droop when you smile. When done by an experienced surgeon, your nose should not look fake. On the other hand, don't expect your nose will make you look like Monica Bellucci - even if your noses look similar!
When done properly it should not look fake
Yes, according to the pictures, you are a candidate for a rhinoplasty, specifically narrowing the tip from the bridge. It does not appear that the profile needs refinement at all. It is possible to make the tip a little bit pointier, narrow the nostrils, but if it is done properly it should not look too fake.

Dorsal lines
Mischa, It does appear from the photos that your frontal nasal lines, or dorsal lines are wide. The tip and nasal bones would have to be narrowed to improve these lines. The nostrils seem fairly narrow as they are. Be sure to consult with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon and openly discuss your wishes. Good luck!

Rhinoplasty to Improve Frontal View of Nose
Hi Mischa, It is possible to improve the overall appearance of your nose. You have given a great deal of thought to what bothers you as well as what you would like. At your rhinoplasty consultation make sure that your prospective surgeon understands what you want, and that she/he believes that it can be achieved in their hands. Most importantly choose your rhinoplasty surgeon most carefully. Good luck and be well. Dr. P

You need a finesse rhinoplasty.
Hi! Your nose looks fairly easy. The key is to know what NOT to do. For instance, your nose should not be lowered, shortened, or tilted up. The actual steps to refine the front view require practice but are quite effective. Most of our patients's top priority is that they don't want to look fake. You are not at any particular risk. Go to a board certified plastic surgeon, and ask to see a lot of before and after pictures. With noses in particular, the surgeon has to have a good eye. more
You are a good candidate
Thanks for posting the photos with your question - it makes it much easier to answer your questions. Yes, you will get nice improvement with a rhinoplasty. During the procedure, the nose can be narrowed, the tip refined and the muscle divided which pulls the tip when you smile. Good luck with surgery.
Rhinoplasty refinement
After reviewing you photos your request seems reasonable. In the hands of a qualified surgeon you shouldn't have to worry about looking unnatural. I would encourage you to speak to someone you can take your nasal features and make them more refined and fit your face however, instead of trying to seek the appearance of a famous person. Every face is different and every nose should strive to fit the face of its owner.

This can be done without looking abnormal.
What you want is possible and can be done. You should see an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon who shows you photos of his patients that have noses similar to yours that he has operated on.

Revision rhinoplasty may be planned one year after your initial nose surgery
Hi, So based on the pictures, it looks like you had a rhinoplasty but not sure how long ago. If it has been over a year, then a possible revision may be planned. If it is less than a year, then you really need to give it time to heal and let the swelling to go down. A narrower, more refined nose is possible but HOW much narrower depends on a surgeon examining you and cannot be based only on pictures. How thick your skin is, how much cartilage is left, are some questions that need an.
